APPLICABLE LEGISLATIVE INFORMATION; DECREE 14/2014 OF MARCH 14 ARTICLE 5) REQUIREMENTS FOR RECREATIONAL DIVING PRACTICE

1.- The necessary requirements for the practice of recreational diving are the following:

a) Document certifying the holder as a recreational diver, proving they possess the accreditations listed in Annex II or Annex III of this Decree, as applicable, or because they hold equivalent accreditations in accordance with Annexes IV or V of this Decree.

b) Medical examination certificate confirming fitness for diving in accordance with basic safety regulations, with the exception of initiation activities, where the medical certificate may be replaced by a self-declaration of responsibility signed by the participant.

c) The dive logbook, which must record the completed dives, stamped and verified by a certified diver or a dive center. Additional experience beyond initial training or different training courses completed by the diver and their specialties may be noted in this logbook, signed and stamped by the center where they were completed. In the event that the diver does not present the logbook, the center will only allow them to participate in activities for which it considers them qualified based on the accreditation and experience provided.

d) Accident insurance covering any type of accident that could occur, including treatment in a hyperbaric medicine center and third-party liability.

e) Meeting the required age for the practice of recreational diving, in accordance with Article 7 of this Decree.

2.- The following individuals carrying out underwater activities are exempt from possessing the document certifying them as recreational divers and the dive logbook:

a) Those activities carried out during theoretical or practical tests necessary to obtain the corresponding certification.

b) Diving initiation activities or immersion activities carried out by authorized centers that do not lead to certifications.

3) Under no circumstances may recreational diving be practiced without the permanent companionship of another diver who also holds, at minimum, the document certifying them as a recreational diver, except in initiation activities and courses, where students must be accompanied by qualified technical staff from the dive center appropriate for the training being conducted.

4) Possessing the document certifying someone as a recreational diver does not authorize the practice of any type of fishing, shellfish harvesting, collection of underwater remains, harvesting of flora and fauna, extraction and movement of rocks and sediment, use of methods for attracting or repelling wildlife, or any other activity that could harm the underwater natural environment.
